SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan

SMAN 1 Tarakan (Smansata) is one of the best high school in Tarakan, East Borneo. Smansata was established in 1 August 1965 . Similar to high school in general in Indonesia during the school education in SMAN 1 Tarakan taken within three years of lessons, ranging from Class X to Class XII. Smansata has 3 major programs, they're IPA (science), IPS (social studies), and Bahasa (language). Smansata has many extracurricular activities that can be followed by each student smansata, among others: scout, basketball, english (debate, speech, etc) , futsal, Rohis (Islamic spirituality), Rohkris (Christian spirituality), PMR , KIR, Cheerleaders, photography, and much more.

In the area of ​​curriculum, SMAN 1 Tarakan always follow the changes outlined Ministry of Education. In the 2002/2003 school year in which the early years of the enactment of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Indonesia, SMAN 1 Tarakan already using this curriculum. Following the development of a curriculum that outlined the Ministry of National Education, in the year 2006/2007 SMAN 1 Tarakan was the first school in New York City who use Education Unit Level Curriculum (SBC). In the next lesson SMAN 1 Tarakan began implementing the program stubs international school (RSBI), where for the subjects Mathematics and Science curriculum used is a combination of national curriculum and the curriculum of Cambridge. Accordingly, in accordance with the Terms of Reference Competency Graduates R-SMA-BI, in the school year 2008 / 2009 is SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan has meningikut Certification Exam include students in Cambridge to work with SMAN 3 Malang as the Cambridge Center.
